The open source operating system is staking out new ground in a familiar way for IoT developers.
RIOT has gained the attention of developers around the world as being an easily integrated OS that provides multithreading and real-time capabilities as well as supporting C and C++ programming languages.
Former firmware developer at Zolertia, Antonio Lignan, had this to say about RIOT, "Most developers are accustomed to using C++ for frameworks and wiring so it [Riot] allows for fast reuse... and allows a kernal like architecture that is more common to Linux developement, so people coming from an embedded development background will find it to have an easier learning curve."
Needless to say, an easily integrated operating system will only expand the uses of IoT devices and future products. At Zolertia we are excited for what the future holds for our hardware and continue to look into new facets and industries to apply our products.
